Kompol G.M. Angga Satrya Wibawa, Head of the Traffic Unit at the Bandar Lampung City Police (Polresta Bandar Lampung), confirmed that the ‘Zebra Krakatau’ operation is slated to run for two weeks, from November 17 to November 30, 2025.

“On the first day, 123 vehicles were confirmed to have committed violations within the Bandar Lampung City area,” Angga stated to Lampung Geh, highlighting the immediate impact of the enforcement efforts.

Elaborating on the initial findings, Angga revealed that out of the 123 confirmed violations, six offenses were swiftly processed through the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) camera system. The remaining 117 motorists received official warnings for their infractions, indicating a balanced approach to enforcement.

Violations detected by ETLE cameras primarily involved disregard for traffic signs. Meanwhile, the range of offenses warranting a direct warning was diverse, including motorists not wearing helmets, driving against the flow of traffic (contraflow), and various other minor infringements that compromise road safety.

To ensure the smooth execution and comprehensive reach of the operation, the Bandar Lampung City Police has deployed a robust team of 53 personnel. This significant effort is bolstered by collaborative support from key partners, including the City Government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Transportation Agency (Dishub), the state-owned insurance company Jasa Raharja, and dedicated health workers, underscoring a multi-agency commitment to public safety.

A central tenet of Operasi Zebra Krakatau is its dual-pronged approach to road safety. Police are prioritizing pre-emptive and preventive measures, aiming to educate and deter potential violations and reduce traffic accidents through heightened awareness and visibility, rather than immediate punitive action.

However, for more severe and potentially fatal violations, repressive enforcement is actively implemented. This includes both E-Tilang (electronic ticketing) and manual tickets for serious offenses such as illegal street racing, the use of illegally modified loud exhausts (knalpot brong), failure to wear a helmet, and carrying more than one passenger (triple riding), all of which pose significant risks to road users and are strictly prohibited.
