Indonesia U-22 National Team coach Indra Sjafri has officially unveiled his 23-player squad for the highly anticipated SEA Games 2025. Following a rigorous selection process, eight hopefuls were ultimately excluded from the final roster set to travel to Thailand.

Among those left out are Arkhan Fikri (Arema FC), Brandon Marsel Scheunemann (Arema FC), Mikael Alfredo Tata (Persebaya Surabaya), Muhammad Alfarezzi Buffon (Borneo FC), Wigi Pratama (Persik Kediri), Rifqi Ray Farandi (Persik Kediri), Ricky Pratama (PSM Makassar), and Ikram Algifari (Bekasi FC).

Significantly, the chosen 23-man squad features a strong contingent of four diaspora players currently making their mark in European leagues. These promising talents include Marselino Ferdinan (AS Trencin), Ivar Jenner (FC Utrecht), Mauro Zijlstra (FC Volendam), and Dion Markx (TOP OSS).

The Indonesia U-22 squad wasted no time, departing for Thailand earlier this morning, Friday (November 28). As they embark on their journey, Sumardji, Chairman of the National Team Body (BTN), voiced his high expectations for the ‘Garuda Muda’ (Young Eagles), urging them to successfully defend their SEA Games gold medal.

Reflecting on the team’s collective resolve, Sumardji stated to reporters in Jakarta recently, “Along with Coach Indra, the assistant coaches, officials, and all the players, we share an unwavering determination and spirit. Our commitment is absolute; we are fully set on defending the gold medal.”

He reiterated, “I won’t comment on other aspects, but the core message is clear: within this team, our resolve and our spirit are united. We are all unequivocally focused on retaining the gold.”
