Each beneficiary family (KPM) is set to receive Rp 900,000, with the full disbursement expected to be completed within the next two weeks. This timely financial injection aims to provide immediate relief and support.

Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, in an interview with reporters in Jakarta on October 18, officially named this new cash social assistance the “Temporary Direct Cash Assistance” (BLTS). The aid amounts to Rp 300,000 per family, covering the months of October, November, and December.

Minister Yusuf clarified that the total Rp 900,000 will be disbursed as a “one-time, lump sum payment,” and confirmed that the BLTS disbursement process has already commenced, signaling swift action from the government.

The funds are strategically designed to sustain the public’s purchasing power, particularly vital during challenging economic periods. With the assumption of an average family comprising a husband, wife, and two children, this comprehensive assistance program is projected to positively impact an estimated 140 million individuals nationwide.

Saiful, who also serves as the Secretary-General of PBNU, emphasized that the BLTS is a distinct initiative, separate from the routine monthly cash social assistance programs. A substantial budget of Rp 31.54 trillion has been allocated for the BLTS, and Saiful expressed his hope that recipient families will utilize these funds prudently and effectively.

He further elaborated that the government has a strong history of providing direct cash assistance (BLT), having previously disbursed funds to 20.88 million beneficiary families (KPM). This prior BLT initiative was channeled through the highly impactful Family Hope Program (PKH).

“This BLTS program is entirely separate from the regular BLT recipients,” the former East Java Deputy Governor asserted, highlighting its supplementary nature and broad reach to new beneficiaries.

The introduction of BLTS further diversifies the government’s comprehensive social assistance portfolio. Current programs include pure PKH, benefiting 398,714 families with Rp 2.8 million per year each, totaling an annual budget of Rp 1.116 trillion.

Additionally, the pure Sembako program provides essential staple food assistance to 8,675,797 families, with each receiving Rp 2.4 million annually, amounting to a total budget of Rp 20.822 trillion. A combined PKH and Sembako program also supports 9,601,286 families, with each receiving Rp 5.2 million per year, drawing from a significant budget of Rp 49.927 trillion.

Looking ahead, the government has also earmarked an “additional social assistance” program for June-July 2025, targeting 18,277,083 families. Each family in this program will receive Rp 400,000, summing up to a total budget of Rp 7.311 trillion. This diverse array of aid, including the latest BLTS, underscores the government’s steadfast commitment to providing robust economic stimulus and social safety nets for its citizens.
