JAKARTA — Adies Kadir, the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has officially resumed his duties, immediately addressing a critical land dispute in Surabaya. This complex issue involves 534 hectares of land and impacts tens of thousands of local citizens. Kadir has pledged his direct support and accompaniment for the affected residents throughout the resolution process.
Kadir confirmed that he has received an official request for a Public Hearing (RDP) from representatives of the citizens involved in the dispute. He assured the public that these concerns would be swiftly facilitated through the formal channels of the DPR. “The DPR RI is ready to facilitate the RDP, which will be scheduled in the near future, to ensure this matter receives serious attention and a fair solution. The state must not turn a blind eye to the rights of its people. Now it’s time to get back to work,” Adies stated in an official release received on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
This proactive return to his responsibilities comes after a significant decision made by the House Ethics Council (MKD) of the DPR RI on November 5. The MKD ruled to reactivate five members of the DPR RI who had previously been suspended by their respective parties following large-scale protests in late August 2025.
Specifically, the MKD concluded that Adies Kadir and Uya Kuya had not violated the code of ethics. Consequently, their full positions within the DPR were reinstated, including Adies’ prominent role as Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
In contrast, three other members—Sahroni, Nafa Urbach, and Eko Patrio—were found to have breached the code of ethics. They were subsequently sanctioned with varying periods of suspension: Sahroni received a six-month suspension, Eko Patrio a four-month suspension, and Nafa Urbach a three-month suspension.
