Sumardji, Chairman of the National Team Agency (BTN), has provided an encouraging update regarding the availability of Indonesian diaspora players for the upcoming SEA Games 2025. He confirmed that Marselino Ferdinan and Ivar Jenner are cleared to participate, thanks to successful negotiations with their respective clubs.
Marselino Ferdinan is currently honing his skills with AS Trencin on loan from Oxford United, while Ivar Jenner is contracted to FC Utrecht.
“We’ve had very positive communication with Marselino’s club, insyaallah (God willing), reaching a very positive point. We’ve scheduled Lino’s departure from his club for the end of November. If we leave here on the 27th, we should be able to meet in Thailand,” Sumardji told reporters in Jakarta on Monday, November 17th.
“[Ivar Jenner is allowed?] Yes, everyone currently involved has been communicated with their respective clubs. Insyaallah, it’s all very positive, as we discussed it from the beginning,” he continued, offering reassurance about Jenner’s participation.
However, the participation of two other young diaspora players, Adrian Wibowo and Tim Geypens, in the U-22 national team for the SEA Games remains uncertain. Adrian currently plays for Los Angeles FC, while Geypens represents FC Emmen. The Indonesian team is actively working to secure their release.
“Regarding Adrian, he has told me he is available. However, we’ve been asked to speak with their Director of Technology, and I am actively communicating, conveying our request. I’ve also tasked the Secretary Team to constantly follow up with his club, hoping that the Director of Technology will allow Adrian to join us in late November or early December,” Sumardji explained.
“[Tim Geypens] We are waiting for Tim. In principle, if Tim’s condition, if his injury improves and he is able, we are hopeful. There is still time, and if Tim communicates intensely with the Secretary Team, he could come. His club will also, insyaallah, grant permission, but they are waiting to ensure his injury is fully recovered. So there are no doubts about his ability to participate,” he concluded, highlighting the importance of Geypens’s recovery for his potential involvement.

Sumardji, Chairman of the National Team Agency, confirmed the availability of Marselino Ferdinan and Ivar Jenner for the SEA Games 2025. Successful negotiations with their respective clubs, AS Trencin (for Marselino) and FC Utrecht (for Jenner), have cleared their participation. Marselino is expected to depart his club by the end of November, with Jenner’s involvement also secured.
In contrast, the participation of Adrian Wibowo (Los Angeles FC) and Tim Geypens (FC Emmen) remains doubtful. Adrian has expressed his availability, but the Indonesian team is actively working to secure his release from his club’s Director of Technology. Geypens’ involvement hinges on his recovery from injury and subsequent club permission, which depends on his full fitness.
