These individuals have been named as suspects in the ongoing investigation into the alleged forgery of the 7th President Joko Widodo’s diploma.

The travel restriction, confirmed by Kombes Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, on Thursday (20/11), prevents them from leaving the country. However, Hermanto clarified, “We are banning them from traveling abroad, but they are not under city arrest.” Beyond the overseas travel prohibition, the suspects are also mandated to report to Polda Metro Jaya once a week. Police further emphasized that while Roy Suryo and his co-accused are not confined to the city, they must adhere strictly to the weekly reporting obligation. “They are permitted to travel outside the city, as long as they comply with the weekly reporting,” he stated.

Meanwhile, in a proactive move, the legal counsel representing Roy Suryo and his associates, Ahmad Khozinudin, announced their intention to formally request a special case review from the investigators at Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya. “We will also resubmit our request for a special case review, which we are handing over again to the Wasidik Bureau today,” Khozinudin affirmed.

Khozinudin elaborated on their defense strategy, stating that they plan to present a roster of expert witnesses to provide crucial testimony to the investigators. These experts will range from forensic linguists to IT specialists. The legal team’s hope is that the insights offered by these professionals will significantly mitigate any potential sanctions against their clients. “We have already prepared the names of our experts and will soon announce them. We have requested that their summons be facilitated through us, ensuring sufficient time for us to coordinate with our experts,” he concluded.
