JAKARTA – SpaceX is projected to launch its Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 2026, targeting an impressive valuation of US$800 billion, equivalent to approximately Rp13.33 Quadrillion. This colossal valuation is largely attributed to the anticipated growth of its Starlink satellite internet service, which is expected to boast a user base of 8 million subscribers by November 2025.
Currently, the burgeoning interest in SpaceX’s public offering has already successfully garnered US$25 billion, or Rp416.5 trillion, from eager investors. This robust investor appetite underscores the market’s confidence in the aerospace company’s future prospects.
According to a report from Cryptopolitan on Monday, December 15, 2025, SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen confirmed a pivotal agreement. Under this deal, investors can acquire shares at $421 each, or approximately Rp7,014,596 per share, propelling the company’s valuation towards the US$800 billion (Rp13.33 Quadrillion) mark.
Industry analysts forecast Starlink’s revenue to range between US$11.8 billion (Rp196.59 Trillion) and US$15 billion (Rp249.90 Trillion) in 2025. This substantial income is bolstered by its constellation of over 7,500 satellites operating in low Earth orbit, establishing it as the world’s largest satellite network currently in operation.
To put this growth into perspective, as recently as July 2025, SpaceX shares were valued at US$212 per share (approximately Rp3,531,623 per share), with the company itself commanding a valuation of US$400 billion, or roughly Rp6.66 Quadrillion. This indicates an extraordinary doubling of valuation in a mere five months.
Such a massive valuation would firmly position SpaceX among the top 20 largest public companies globally and crown it as the world’s most valuable private startup. This achievement would even surpass the recent US$500 billion (Rp8.33 Quadrillion) valuation of OpenAI, highlighting SpaceX’s unprecedented trajectory.
In a letter addressed to shareholders on December 12, 2025, Johnsen further indicated that the forthcoming IPO could potentially raise even more than the initial US$25 billion (Rp416.5 trillion) and might materialize as early as June 2026. However, he also tempered expectations, cautioning that both the exact IPO date and the final valuation remain fluid, heavily contingent on the company’s ongoing performance and broader market conditions.
Main Factors Driving SpaceX’s Valuation Surge
SpaceX’s value has skyrocketed primarily due to the overwhelming success of its Starlink satellite internet business. This service has experienced exponential growth, expanding from just 1 million subscribers in December 2022 to an impressive 8 million active subscribers by November 2025.
This rapid expansion has solidified Starlink’s position as SpaceX’s largest revenue generator, contributing US$7.7 billion (Rp128.31 Trillion) in 2024, accounting for a significant 58% of the company’s total income.
Beyond Starlink, government contracts, including the specialized military version known as Starshield, have also provided substantial revenue streams. These contracts brought in approximately US$2 billion (Rp33.33 Trillion) in 2024, with projections indicating a rise to around US$3 billion (Rp49.98 Trillion) in 2025.
As the undisputed leader in the commercial launch market, thanks to its Falcon 9 rockets and the ambitious Starship program, SpaceX plans to strategically deploy its IPO capital. These funds are earmarked to fuel its grand ambitions, which include scaling up Starship flights, developing AI data centers in space, establishing a Moonbase Alpha, and ultimately, sending missions to Mars.
In a recent strategic move to further expand its reach, SpaceX acquired a wireless spectrum license valued at over US$17 billion (approximately Rp283.20 Trillion). This acquisition, in collaboration with T-Mobile, is set to enable direct satellite-to-standard smartphone connectivity, promising to revolutionize global communication. (Nur Amalina)
