PT PLN (Persero) is actively championing the swift development of the Danantara Transitional Housing (Huntara) in Aceh Tamiang, ensuring robust infrastructure and the complete connection of electrical grids to all constructed units. This initiative underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to accelerating post-disaster recovery by providing essential amenities for communities devastated by flash floods and landslides in the region.
Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, lauded the significant progress in the Huntara development and its supporting infrastructure, which is rapidly being expedited. He praised the seamless synergy between ministries, Danantara Indonesia, and local governments (Pemda) for achieving remarkable advancements in a short timeframe. A total of 600 units are slated for handover to the Pemda on January 8, 2026, for subsequent distribution to the affected residents.
“Danantara Indonesia has demonstrated our collective capability to construct 600 homes, with all parties working brilliantly and swiftly,” President Prabowo stated, acknowledging the concerted effort behind the project.
Rosan Roeslani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danantara Indonesia, announced an ambitious national target to construct 15,000 Huntara units within the next three months. These units will be strategically distributed across three disaster-affected provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
“The target for the Danantara Transitional Housing in Aceh Tamiang was clearly established from the outset, and the progress achieved by January 1, 2026, truly reflects the strong commitment of all stakeholders to meet it. State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) have moved swiftly, operating in challenging conditions on the ground to ensure that communities promptly receive adequate housing,” Roeslani explained. He further emphasized that constructing Huntara for disaster-affected residents is not merely a short-term solution but a vital phase in broader recovery across various sectors.
“These Huntara units serve as a crucial bridge towards permanent housing and the economic revival of the community. Therefore, quality and sustainability remain paramount considerations,” he added, highlighting the long-term vision. The Huntara units are meticulously built to meet emergency housing standards, focusing not just on structural integrity but also on fundamental needs such as electricity. The government, through Danantara Indonesia, prioritizes electricity availability in Huntara development, alongside access to clean water, adequate sanitation, and on-site health services.
In line with this commitment, Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PLN, affirmed PLN’s full readiness to support the Huntara development by ensuring a safe and reliable electricity supply for every housing unit.
“PLN stands prepared to execute the government’s directives via Danantara Indonesia to guarantee the readiness of Huntara’s electrical infrastructure. For every completed housing unit, we ensure that electricity is readily available and instantly operational, allowing residents to safely and comfortably occupy their new homes without delay,” Darmawan stated, reiterating PLN’s dedication. Currently, PLN has successfully deployed essential electrical infrastructure in the Huntara Aceh Tamiang area, including the installation of transformers, electrical networks, and kWh meters for all constructed residences. The electrical network is now fully connected and sufficiently equipped to meet the power demands of both the residential units and public facilities.
Previously, Dony Oskaria, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara Indonesia, accompanied by Darmawan, personally oversaw the progress of the Huntara Aceh Tamiang construction and its electrical infrastructure. Darmawan underscored that a reliable electricity supply in Huntara is a fundamental necessity, crucial for supporting the daily activities of the community.
“We understand that our fellow citizens affected by the flash floods and landslides have lost so much – not just their homes, but also their sense of security and comfort. Therefore, PLN is committed to delivering a superior electricity supply to the Huntara areas. This ensures that residents can quickly settle in, children can resume their studies comfortably, and families can carry out their daily routines with greater dignity. This is our unwavering commitment to help communities rise from the aftermath of the disaster,” Darmawan concluded, emphasizing PLN’s profound role in fostering community resilience.
