The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) concluded its afternoon trading session on Tuesday, December 20th, in positive territory, posting a modest gain. The IHSG closed up 0.827 points, or 0.01 percent, reaching 9,134.700. This marginal uptick indicated a slight positive momentum for Indonesia’s benchmark stock index.

However, the sentiment was not uniformly positive across the board, as the LQ45 index, which tracks the 45 most liquid stocks, recorded a decline. The LQ45 slipped by 8.742 points, or 0.98 percent, to settle at 884.377. Reflecting the mixed market performance, 336 stocks advanced, while 323 stocks experienced declines, and 143 shares remained stagnant throughout the day’s trading.

The market witnessed robust trading activity, with a total of 3,929,232 stock transactions executed. The cumulative trading volume amounted to an impressive 71.949 billion shares, underscoring significant investor engagement. The total value of these trades reached Rp 29.580 trillion, highlighting the substantial capital flow within the Indonesian stock market.

Among the standout performers of the afternoon were several top gainers. Topindo Solusi Komunika (TOSK) surged by 23 points, or 34.85 percent, to close at 89. Puri Sentul Permai (KDTN) saw a significant rise of 315 points, or 25 percent, reaching 1,575. Kencana Energi Lestari (KEEN) climbed 255 points, or 24.76 percent, to 1,285. Lastly, Teknologi Karya Digital Nusa (TRON) added 52 points, or 22.81 percent, to its value, closing at 280.

Turning to the currency market, the Indonesian Rupiah experienced a slight weakening against the US Dollar. According to Bloomberg data, the rupiah exchange rate depreciated by 1.00 point, or 0.01 percent, settling at Rp 16,956 per US Dollar by the close of the afternoon session.

Meanwhile, Asian stock markets presented a predominantly negative picture for the day. The Nikkei 225 in Japan fell by 592.500 points (1.11 percent) to 52,991.101. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index also saw a decrease, dropping 76.390 points (0.29 percent) to 26,487.509. The SSE Composite in China registered a modest decline of 0.350 points (0.01 percent), closing at 4,113.649. Similarly, the Straits Times Index in Singapore ended lower by 11.359 points (0.23 percent), reaching 4,823.520, reflecting a cautious mood across the region.
