JAKARTA – The Indonesian stock market witnessed a dynamic week from February 23-27, 2026, with a select group of ten stocks achieving significant price surges to become the period’s top gainers. These standout performers defied a broader market downtrend, showcasing robust individual growth amidst fluctuating conditions.
Leading the charge was PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk. (BNBR), which emerged as the undisputed frontrunner among the top gainers. According to statistical data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), BNBR experienced an impressive price jump of 32.92% within the week, closing at Rp214 per share.
Following closely, PT MNC Digital Entertainment Tbk. (MSIN) secured the second position with a substantial 21.90% increase, bringing its share price to Rp640. Rounding out the top three was PT Widodo Makmur Unggas Tbk. (WMUU), which saw its shares appreciate by 16.88% during the week, settling at Rp90.
Further demonstrating strong individual performances, PT Bank Oke Indonesia Tbk. (DNAR) recorded a 15.94% ascent, reaching Rp160 per share. Meanwhile, PT Griptha Putra Persada Tbk. (GRPH) also posted notable gains, climbing 13.33% to Rp68 within the same trading week.
Despite these individual stock triumphs, the broader market presented a contrasting picture. The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) experienced a modest weakening over the past week, reflecting a general softness in overall market sentiment.
Specifically, IDX data for the February 23-27, 2026 period revealed that the IHSG declined by 0.44%, settling at 8,235.48 points from its previous week’s close of 8,271.76. This dip in the benchmark index, however, did not deter active trading.
Remarkably, while the IHSG showed signs of weakness, the market saw a significant surge in trading activity. The average daily transaction value recorded the highest increase, soaring by 25.35% to Rp29.52 trillion, up from Rp23.89 trillion in the preceding week. This robust increase highlights investor engagement despite the overall index decline, as stated by the IDX in an official release on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Complementing this heightened value, the average daily transaction volume also expanded by 8.55%, reaching 51.02 billion shares compared to 47 billion shares in the week prior. This indicates a strong flow of trades across the market.
However, the weakening of the IHSG led to a contraction in the overall market capitalization on the IDX, which dipped by 1.03% to Rp14,787 trillion this week from Rp14,941 trillion last week. Concurrently, the average daily transaction frequency also saw a slight decrease of 3.72%, falling to 2.95 million transactions from 3.06 million in the previous period.
