JAKARTA – The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) experienced a marginal decline throughout the trading week spanning March 23–27, 2026, closing slightly weaker. This movement comes as the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) noted a decrease in overall market capitalization, which fell to Rp12,516 trillion amidst varied transaction dynamics.
Specifically, the BEI reported that the IHSG concluded the week at 7,097.057, marking a 0.14 percent dip from its previous week’s close of 7,106.839. Interestingly, this modest downturn in the benchmark index unfolded concurrently with a noticeable uptick in daily trading activities across the stock market.
Highlighting the surge in activity, the BEI observed a significant rise in the average daily transaction value, which climbed by 15.27 percent. This pushed the total value to Rp23.33 trillion, up from Rp20.24 trillion recorded in the preceding week. In an official statement quoted on Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Indonesia Stock Exchange affirmed that “stock trading data at PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) for the period March 23–27, 2026, closed with varied performance.”
Further underscoring robust engagement, the average daily transaction frequency also saw a healthy increase of 9.01 percent, reaching 1.73 million transactions compared to 1.59 million the week prior. This sustained growth in both transaction value and frequency clearly indicates that stock trading activity remained considerably high, even as the main index experienced a slight weakening.
However, not all indicators showed positive momentum. A negative trend was particularly evident in the market capitalization, which decreased by 0.24 percent, settling at Rp12,516 trillion from its earlier Rp12,547 trillion. Similarly, the average daily transaction volume recorded a 4.81 percent reduction, declining to 28.31 billion shares from the previous 29.74 billion shares.
Adding another dimension to the week’s trading, foreign investors continued their net selling trend, divesting a total of Rp1.76 trillion throughout the week. Cumulatively, since the beginning of 2026, the net selling by foreign investors on the Jakarta stock market has now reached a substantial Rp30.88 trillion, reflecting a persistent cautious sentiment.
