Despite its initial positive start, briefly gaining 0.17% to reach an intraday high of 7,015.89, the IHSG soon faced selling pressure. It touched an early session peak of 7,015.89 before retreating to an intraday low of 6,942.62, indicative of significant intraday volatility.

According to data from RTI, the market breadth reflected this bearish trend, with 303 stocks experiencing declines, outweighing the 240 that strengthened and 177 that remained stagnant. Trading activity remained robust, with a substantial volume of 5.52 billion shares changing hands, generating a total transaction value of Rp 2.24 trillion from 376,000 transactions. This indicates strong engagement despite the overall market decline.

The downward pressure on the IHSG was largely mirrored across other key Asian markets, which displayed a mixed yet predominantly weaker performance. Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped by 0.17%, while Singapore’s Straits Times Index also registered a modest dip of 0.21%. Conversely, China’s Shanghai Composite managed a slight gain of 0.31%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index concluded the session largely unchanged.
