Amidst the burgeoning green economy, non-profit organizations Green Jobs Seasoldier and Koaksi Indonesia have launched the Green Jobs Fest 2026, an exciting series of events unfolding throughout April across key Indonesian cities: Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya. This impactful festival features a variety of engaging activities, including a standout workshop aptly titled “Draw Your Future Green Career”.
Facilitated by the non-profit Green Jobs Career Indonesia (GJCI), this particular workshop brought together individuals from diverse professional backgrounds. This rich tapestry of perspectives provided participants with a significantly broader understanding of green jobs – roles within the nation’s burgeoning eco-friendly sector.
Furthermore, the festival included interactive sessions designed to help participants identify and map their skills to various emerging green industries. “This workshop aims to provide comprehensive information about green careers while empowering participants to align their capabilities with the existing industry landscape,” explained Azizah Zurinada, Founder of GJCI, in a press release issued on Tuesday (April 28). She added, “We achieve this through an unconventional and highly engaging method: creating zines, making the activity exceptionally fun and interactive for everyone involved.”
The concept of green jobs is globally recognized, and the International Labour Organization (ILO), a United Nations agency, defines them broadly. These roles encompass a wide spectrum of work aimed at protecting ecosystems, enhancing energy efficiency, minimizing waste, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting adaptation efforts against climate change.
The potential for these sustainable careers in Indonesia is substantial. According to estimations from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the development of renewable energy power plants alone – in line with PLN’s Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025-2030 – could generate a remarkable 760,000 green jobs across the archipelago.
Through the collaborative spirit of this festival, GJCI expresses its strong hope that more young people will feel inspired and empowered to embark on their own fulfilling green career journeys, contributing actively to a more sustainable future.
