The family of a victim involved in the recent Commuter Line train accident at Bekasi Timur Station has shared harrowing details regarding the experience of Anggita Rizka Utami (37). Anggita, who sustained injuries during the collision between the KRL Commuter Line and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train on Monday (April 27), is currently undergoing recovery.
Aditya Subagja Putra, the victim’s brother, recounted that Anggita was positioned near the priority seating area in a women-only carriage when the collision occurred. Moments before the impact, she was attempting to contact her husband to inform him of a train delay.
“She had intended to call her husband because the train was delayed. Suddenly, before she could even send a message, the collision happened,” Aditya explained at the Bekasi Regional General Hospital (RSUD) on Thursday (April 30).
Aditya described the sheer force of the impact, noting that his sister was pinned down and thrown amidst a pile of other passengers as the trains collided.

“She was thrown together with a pile of people,” he said. According to Anggita, she managed to escape through the carriage’s automatic doors, which opened upon impact. “She was near the priority seats, so when the collision happened and she was pinned, the doors automatically opened, allowing her to get out. She was still able to exit,” he added.
Following the ordeal, Anggita suffered multiple physical injuries. Aditya noted, “She sustained bruises on her right arm, legs, and back. She cannot stand on her own and requires assistance, which is why she has been referred to a neurologist.” He confirmed that no surgical intervention was required for her injuries.

Regarding initial medical care, the victim was first taken to the Emergency Room (IGD) on the day of the incident. She was discharged in the early hours of the next morning as her condition did not initially appear critical. However, her health deteriorated the following day, necessitating a return to the hospital for further examinations, which eventually led to her being admitted for inpatient care.
“We brought her in for a check-up the next day, but it turned into an inpatient stay once we realized the extent of her condition,” Aditya noted.
Beyond her physical trauma, Anggita also suffered from significant shock following the accident. Fortunately, the family reports that she is beginning to recover after receiving psychological support. “She is doing much better compared to the beginning. She was in deep shock yesterday, but with the psychological guidance provided by KAI, she is now able to recount what happened,” he concluded. The family continues to monitor her progress as she focuses on both her physical and emotional recovery.
