This ambitious program is a testament to strong collaborative efforts, bringing together various key stakeholders. These include the Directorate General of National Export Development (PPEJP) under the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, the DKI Jakarta Provincial PPKUKM Agency, OJK Jabodebek, and the Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI).

Lily Mochamad Sadeli, Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for DKI Jakarta Province, emphasized the strategic importance of UMKM development. She highlighted that fostering SMEs is a pivotal step in supporting the government’s strategic agenda to strengthen the real sector and drive inclusive and sustainable economic growth across the nation.

“Amidst the dynamic shifts in global trade and evolving market preferences, UMKMs are compelled to continuously enhance the quality of their human resources, improve product standards, strengthen branding, leverage digitalization, and meet international market benchmarks,” Sadeli stated in an official announcement on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The JAWARA program stands out as an end-to-end UMKM development initiative. It encompasses a wide spectrum of support, from digital onboarding and the reinforcement of sustainable business practices to the development of the creative economy and tourism sectors, ultimately aiming for broader export market access. The remarkable enthusiasm from business actors is evident, with 879 UMKMs registering for the program.

Out of the total registrants, 352 UMKMs were declared eligible to participate in JAWARA Go-Onboard. Furthermore, 40 UMKMs were specifically selected for intensive mentoring in each of the specialized tracks: JAWARA Go-Sustain, Go-Tourism, and Go-Export, ensuring targeted support for diverse business needs.

Concurrently, the 2026 ECP attracted 122 registrants, from whom 30 UMKMs were meticulously chosen to undergo intensive export mentoring, a process that will continue until September 2026.

Sadeli further explained, “Beyond the JAWARA and ECP initiatives, we are consistently fortifying the UMKM development ecosystem through various other strategic programs. These include Citra Nusa, dedicated to the development of traditional textile (wastra) and craft UMKMs, and Cangkir Barista, aimed at transforming baristas into skilled coffee-preneurs.”

To bridge critical connections, several business matching events focusing on financing and export opportunities will also be organized. These events are designed to connect UMKMs directly with both domestic and international buyers. The entire series of programs will culminate and be further amplified by the Jakarta Kreatif Festival (JKF) 2026, scheduled for July 4–5, 2026, at Istora Senayan Jakarta.

“Through sustained collaboration and continuous mentorship, Bank Indonesia’s DKI Jakarta Provincial Office is confident that Jakarta’s UMKMs will be increasingly prepared to compete effectively in both the domestic and global markets,” Sadeli remarked, outlining a vision of enhanced economic prowess.

Ultimately, these comprehensive programs are expected to not only elevate the business capacity and product quality of UMKMs but also unlock new market avenues and significantly strengthen the overall contribution of UMKMs to regional and national economic growth.
