
The fugitive caretaker of the Pondok Ndolo Kusumo boarding school, Asyhari, has been apprehended by the Central Java Regional Police. The suspect, who is wanted in connection with the sexual abuse of female students, was tracked down at his hideout in Wonogiri Regency on Thursday (May 7).
Photos obtained by kumparan show Asyhari at the time of his arrest, wearing only a batik shirt, a black jacket, and underwear.
Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police, Senior Commissioner Anwar Nasir, confirmed that Asyhari was captured in Bakalan Village, Purwantoro District, Wonogiri Regency, by a joint task force.
“Yes, the arrest took place at 04:45 AM local time in Bakalan Village, Purwantoro District, Wonogiri Regency, carried out by the Resmob team of the Central Java Police’s Violent Crimes Unit (Jatanras),” stated Anwar on Thursday (May 7).
Following his arrest, the suspect was immediately transported to the Pati City Police (Polresta Pati) for detention and further questioning. “He has been taken directly to Polresta Pati,” Anwar added.
Prior to the capture, the Head of Public Relations for the Central Java Police, Senior Commissioner Artanto, noted that Asyhari had been a fugitive who had fled outside the Central Java region and had repeatedly failed to comply with police summons for questioning.
“Investigators conducted a thorough investigation into the suspect’s whereabouts by questioning his family. The results indicated that he was no longer at his residence and was suspected to have escaped outside of Central Java,” Artanto explained to reporters on Wednesday (May 6).
He further clarified that the General Criminal Investigation Directorate and the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA-PPO) of the Central Java Police provided crucial support for the investigation initially led by Polresta Pati.
“The Jatanras team (Sub-directorate of Violent Crimes) from the Central Java Police actively participated in the manhunt to locate the perpetrator,” he asserted.
Artanto had previously emphasized the police’s commitment to apprehending the suspect, stating, “He was actively being pursued. Once located, he would be immediately arrested and detained. We are pleased that this operation has yielded results and that the suspect is now in custody.”
