Cara Satgas PRR pastikan penyintas bencana Sumatera nyaman tinggal di huntara

The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR) is working diligently to ensure that survivors of hydrometeorological disasters across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra can reside in safe, comfortable temporary shelters (huntara) while waiting for the completion of permanent housing (huntap).

Beyond accelerating the construction of these temporary units, the PRR Task Force is committed to maintaining essential infrastructure and logistical support. This comprehensive approach ensures that the daily needs of impacted communities are consistently met during the recovery process.

As of May 6, 2026, the PRR Task Force has successfully completed 19,169 temporary shelter units across the three affected provinces. This figure represents 93 percent of the total target of 20,433 units.

A provincial breakdown reveals that Aceh has reached 93 percent of its target, with 17,315 out of 18,579 units finalized. Meanwhile, construction in North Sumatra and West Sumatra has achieved full completion, with 1,024 and 830 units delivered, respectively—meeting 100 percent of their established goals.

PRR Task Force spokesperson Amran emphasized that the construction project is a collaborative effort involving various government ministries, agencies, and non-governmental organizations. These partnerships are instrumental in expediting the recovery for disaster survivors.

“We have many parties contributing as implementers. This is not only the work of the BNPB; we have support from Danantara, the Public Works (PU) ministry, and various community organizations. The process is currently ongoing across all fronts,” Amran stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Amran explained that construction remains active in several locations, with progress being managed in phases tailored to specific field conditions. He noted that the remaining 7 percent of the target is currently in the active construction stage.

In addition to providing shelter, the PRR Task Force has distributed significant logistical aid to improve the quality of life for those in temporary housing. In Aceh, aid includes 44,194 food packages, 56,042 floor mats, 15,253 stoves, 14,284 fans, 6,029 mattresses, 40,749 folding mattresses, and 13,813 plastic carpets.

Assistance in North Sumatra comprises 1,719 food packages, 4,016 floor mats, 599 stoves, 562 fans, 562 mattresses, and 3,154 folding mattresses. Meanwhile, survivors in West Sumatra have received 2,490 food packages, 2,444 floor mats, 611 stoves, 611 fans, 611 mattresses, 2,444 folding mattresses, and 611 plastic carpets.

These contributions are designed to ensure that temporary shelters serve as more than just a roof; they provide the basic comforts necessary for families to regain stability while rebuilding their lives.

The impact of these efforts is already being felt by residents in Sekumur Village, located in the Aceh Tamiang Regency—a region hit hard by recent flooding. Fauzi, the village’s planning official, described the new shelters as a vital turning point for families who had spent months living in emergency tents.

“We are very grateful for the assistance. The community feels much more supported now that we no longer have to live in tents. This has greatly boosted the residents’ comfort and their spirit to move forward,” Fauzi noted on Thursday, April 30, 2026. He added that beyond housing, the availability of government-provided water tanks and drilled wells has been essential in restoring daily routines for the villagers.

Summary

The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR) has successfully completed 19,169 temporary shelter units, representing 93 percent of its 20,433-unit target across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. This collaborative initiative, involving various government agencies and organizations, ensures that disaster survivors have safe housing and essential infrastructure while awaiting permanent homes. Construction for the remaining units is currently underway, with North Sumatra and West Sumatra having already reached their full targets.

Beyond providing housing, the PRR Task Force has distributed significant logistical aid, including food packages, kitchen appliances, and sleeping supplies, to improve the living conditions of survivors. These efforts have provided immediate relief to affected communities, allowing residents to transition out of emergency tents into more stable environments. The addition of utilities such as water tanks and drilled wells has further assisted in restoring normalcy and supporting the long-term recovery of families.
