The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) experienced a slight dip of 0.16%, or 12.93 points, settling at 8,261 during the first trading session on Friday, February 20th. This marginal decline was notably influenced by a significant slump in the shares held by prominent conglomerate Prajogo Pangestu, which saw considerable losses during the session.

Among Prajogo Pangestu’s key holdings, PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi Tbk (CUAN) saw its share price plunge by 3.42% to 1,695. Similarly, PT Petrosea Tbk (PTRO) weakened by 3.07% to 7,100, PT Chandra Daya Investasi Tbk (CDIA) corrected by 2.97% to 1,145, and PT Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT) fell by 2.86% to 2,040. These significant drops contributed substantially to the overall market’s downward trajectory.

According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the first session’s trading volume reached 25.81 billion shares, executed across 1.68 million transactions. The total market capitalization stood at Rp 14,949 trillion, with the day’s transaction value amounting to Rp 11.29 trillion. While 252 stocks closed higher, a larger number—402 stocks—declined, and 161 shares remained unchanged.

The market’s weakness was widespread, with six out of the eleven sectors on the IDX closing in the red zone. The property sector suffered the deepest decline, falling by 1.18% sectorally. This was closely followed by the non-cyclical sector, which retreated by 1.01%, and the energy sector, which saw a 0.97% drop, highlighting broad-based investor caution.

Within the struggling energy sector, several individual stocks experienced notable declines. PT Darma Henwa Tbk (DEWA) fell by 3.12% to 620, PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) decreased by 2% to 294, and PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional Tbk (HUMI) saw its shares drop by 3.82% to 252, reflecting a challenging environment for energy-related companies.

In terms of trading value, PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) emerged as the most actively traded stock by midday, recording transactions totaling Rp 760.88 billion. It was closely followed by PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI), which saw Rp 529.54 billion in trades, and PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG), with a transaction value of Rp 485.81 billion, indicating high investor interest in these specific counters despite the overall market downtrend.

The top gainers of the day included:

  • PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG) rose by 9.65% to 1,705
  • PT Matahari Putra Prima Tbk (MPPA) increased by 9.43% to 58
  • PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera Tbk (EXCL) climbed by 5.24% to 3,010

Conversely, the top losers for the day were:

  • PT Bakrieland Development Tbk (ELTY) fell by 8.70% to 42
  • PT Indokripto Koin Semesta Tbk (COIN) dropped by 4.90% to 1,845
