Flooring Guide by Cinvex – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a stern condemnation against the Israeli military following the interception of several ships participating in the international humanitarian mission, the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0. The incident occurred in the waters off the coast of Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela, at least 10 vessels, including the Amanda, Barbaros, Josef, and Blue Toys, have been confirmed intercepted and seized by Israeli forces. Reports from the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) indicate that an Indonesian citizen, identified as Andi Angga Prasadewa, a delegate representing GPCI-Rumah Zakat, was aboard the vessel Josef.
“We have confirmed that an Indonesian citizen, Andi Angga Prasadewa, is among those currently detained,” Nabyl stated during a press briefing on Monday, May 18.
The Ministry is also working urgently to gather information regarding another vessel carrying Indonesian journalist Bambang Noroyono, who writes for the publication Republika. Officials are currently seeking access to determine the ship’s status and the well-being of the journalist. “The situation on the ground is highly dynamic, and we are preparing for further developments,” Nabyl added.
In response to the interception, the Indonesian government has demanded the immediate release of all vessels and humanitarian personnel. Furthermore, the Ministry has urged Israel to ensure the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
To ensure the safety and swift repatriation of its citizens, the Ministry’s Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens Abroad has been coordinating closely with the Indonesian Embassies in Ankara, Cairo, and Amman. “The protection of our citizens remains the Indonesian government’s top priority amid this rapidly evolving situation,” said the spokesperson, noting that contingency plans and protective measures are already in place.
Prior to these reports, Bambang Noroyono, widely known as Abeng, shared a video via the Republika Online Instagram account claiming he had been detained. In the footage recorded on Monday afternoon, the journalist identified himself as a participant in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2026 mission.
“I am Bambang Noroyono, also known as Abeng, an Indonesian citizen and participant in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2026 humanitarian mission,” he said in the video. The journalist, who typically covers legal affairs, appealed to the Indonesian government for his release and urged the nation to maintain its support for Palestinian independence. “If you see this video, please inform the Indonesian government that I am currently being held by Israeli occupation forces. I urge the government to secure my release and to continue supporting Palestinian independence.”
