“BPBD records that currently, there are 7 RTs and 1 road section still experiencing inundation,” stated Mohammad Yohan, Head of the Data and Information Center (Kapusdatin) for BPBD DKI Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Impact Concentrated in West Jakarta

The remaining flood-affected areas are now exclusively located in West Jakarta, specifically within the following neighborhoods:

  • Kelurahan Rawa Buaya: 2 RT
  • Kelurahan Kembangan Selatan: 5 RT

The water levels in these areas are reported to be between 45 and 60 centimeters. The flooding was primarily triggered by heavy rainfall combined with the overflow of the Angke and Pesanggrahan rivers. Fortunately, BPBD has confirmed that there are currently no residents forced to evacuate, with Yohan noting, “The number of evacuees is zero.”

While some areas remain affected, significant progress has been made elsewhere. Dozens of regions that were previously impacted, including parts of South Jakarta and East Jakarta such as Petogogan, Kampung Melayu, Cawang, and Pejaten Timur, have now reported that their floodwaters have fully receded.

Regarding transportation infrastructure, one road remains affected by the overflow:

  • Jl. Kembangan Raya, Kelurahan Kembangan Selatan, West Jakarta

Water levels on this road are approximately 20 centimeters deep, and active mitigation efforts are currently underway to clear the path.

Ongoing Mitigation and Public Safety

BPBD DKI Jakarta continues to deploy personnel to ensure that the remaining floodwaters are drained as quickly as possible. “BPBD DKI Jakarta has deployed staff to monitor conditions in every area and is coordinating with the Water Resources Agency, the Highways Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency to perform water suction operations. We are also ensuring that drainage systems are functioning properly in collaboration with local sub-district and village heads, while preparing basic necessities for those affected. We are targeting a swift return to normal conditions,” explained Yohan.

As recovery efforts continue, BPBD strongly urges the public to remain vigilant and stay alert for the possibility of subsequent flooding.

Summary

As of Tuesday evening, May 5, floodwaters in Jakarta have significantly receded, with only seven neighborhood units (RT) and one road remaining submerged in West Jakarta. The flooding, caused by heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers, currently impacts areas in Rawa Buaya and Kembangan Selatan, with water levels ranging from 45 to 60 centimeters. Notably, no residents have been forced to evacuate due to these conditions.

Authorities, led by the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), are actively working to clear the remaining water through suction operations and drainage maintenance.
