Purbaya bertemu Juda Agung yang disebut jadi calon wamenkeu, ini yang dibahas

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa recently convened a meeting with Juda Agung, who formally resigned from his position as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia on January 13, 2026. Prior to this discussion, Purbaya had publicly hinted at Agung’s potential candidacy for the role of Vice Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu), a position currently held by Thomas Djiwandono.

During their dialogue at the Ministry of Finance, Purbaya revealed that the primary focus of their conversation revolved around the prevailing economic conditions. However, he stopped short of confirming whether Agung would ultimately fill the Wamenkeu post, underscoring that the conclusive decision rests solely with President Prabowo Subianto.

“It was purely an economic discussion, exploring the current economic landscape and his views,” Purbaya clarified to reporters on Tuesday, January 20, outside the OJK Office. When questioned about Agung’s suitability for the Vice Minister role, Purbaya responded, “I don’t know, it depends on the president.” Purbaya further praised Agung’s qualifications, asserting his substantial capacity and profound understanding of economic affairs. “From an economic knowledge perspective, he is quite capable,” said Prabowo.

Concurrently, Bank Indonesia officially confirmed that the resignation process for Juda Agung from his role as Deputy Governor BI is actively in motion. This confirmation was provided by Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Head of BI Communication Department, addressing recent reports concerning leadership changes within the nation’s central bank.

Denny stressed that Agung’s resignation followed all formal procedures as mandated by constitutional provisions. He also indicated that Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has already put forth a list of recommended individuals to the President to fill the impending vacancy for Deputy Governor. This rigorous process adheres to Articles 41, 48, and 50 of the Bank Indonesia Law, as most recently updated through Law Number 3 of 2023 pertaining to the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (UU P2SK).

Separately, President Prabowo Subianto has nominated three candidates for the position of Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia: Thomas Djiwandono, Dicky Kartikoyono, and Solikin M Juhro. Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chairman of House of Representatives (DPR) Commission XI, verified that the Presidential Letter (Surpres) containing these nominations has been received by the DPR and subsequently deliberated during a Consultative Body meeting held on Monday, January 19.
