These elaborate floral arrangements convey well wishes to Uus Kuswanto, who is scheduled to be inaugurated today as the new Secretary of the Region (Sekda) for DKI Jakarta.
The former Mayor of West Jakarta is set to succeed Marullah Matali, who is retiring from his position.
Among the many tributes, one prominent bouquet was sent by the Dewan Adat Bamus Betawi.
“Selamat & Sukses Atas Dilantiknya Bpk Uus Kuswanto Sebagai Sekretaris Daerah (Sekda) Provinsi DKJ,” reads the message on the bouquet, as quoted by TribunJakarta.com on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Further congratulations have poured in from various high-ranking officials within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, including Atika Nur Rahmania, the Head of Bappeda.
“Selamat & Sukses Atas Dilantiknya Uus Kuswanto Sebagai Sekretaris Daerah Provinsi DKI Jakarta,” she stated, expressing her felicitations.
Kevin Wu, a member of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), also confirmed that Uus Kuswanto would indeed be taking the helm as the next DKI Jakarta Sekda.
“It’s true (Uus is the next DKI Jakarta Sekda); that is the information we have received,” he affirmed.
According to the official schedule, Uus Kuswanto will be formally sworn in by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung as the Secretary of the Province of DKI Jakarta today at 2:30 PM Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Career History and Assignments within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government
As reported by Kompas.com, Uus Kuswanto’s most recent post before his appointment as DKI Jakarta Sekda was the Administrative Mayor of West Jakarta.
He commenced his tenure in that role on March 21, 2023.
Prior to this, his extensive career within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government saw him hold a multitude of significant positions, ranging from Head of Johar Baru Village in Central Jakarta to Assistant for Public Welfare to the Provincial Secretary of DKI Jakarta.
His professional journey began in 2005 when he served as Head of Kampung Rawa Village, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta.
He was subsequently transferred to become Head of Mangga Dua Selatan Village, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, a position he held from 2007 to 2010.
From 2010 to 2012, Uus took on the responsibility of Secretary of Sawah Besar Sub-district.
Following this, he was entrusted with the roles of Vice Sub-district Head of Menteng and Vice Sub-district Head of Kemayoran, both in Central Jakarta.
Between 2014 and 2015, he served as Head of the Education and Mental Affairs Division within the West Jakarta Administrative City before being rotated into the ranks of the West Jakarta Administrative City Government in 2015.
His career progression within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continued with his appointment as Head of Kalideres Sub-district from 2015 to 2016.
Subsequently, he held the positions of Head of the West Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Sub-department (2016–2017) and Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Forestry Agency (2017–2019).
From 2019 to 2020, Uus Kuswanto served as the Deputy Mayor of East Jakarta Administrative City.
A year later, he ascended to the role of Administrative Mayor of West Jakarta, before being assigned as Assistant for Public Welfare to the DKI Secretary, and eventually returning to serve as the Mayor of West Jakarta in March 2023, leading up to his current pivotal appointment.
