Madiun Mayor, Maidi, arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)‘s Merah Putih Building on Monday, January 19, following his apprehension in a large-scale sting operation (OTT).
The mayor was observed arriving at approximately 10:34 PM Western Indonesian Time (WIB), accompanied by eight other individuals who were also secured during the OTT. Maidi was notably wearing a blue jacket upon his arrival, a detail that quickly circulated among observers.
Addressing reporters at the scene, Maidi affirmed that he was in good condition. He further declared his unwavering commitment to the development of Madiun City, stating, “I am well.”
He continued, “I am never tired of building Madiun City. If there are shortcomings, pray for my health.” These remarks were delivered amidst the significant developments surrounding his detention by the anti-graft agency.

Earlier, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that the commission had secured a number of individuals in the sting operation conducted in Madiun. “Indeed, today, Monday, January 19, the team is conducting a covert investigative activity, securing a total of 15 people in the Madiun area, East Java,” Prasetyo elaborated in his official statement issued on the same day.
He further added, “Subsequently, nine of these individuals have been brought to Jakarta for further examination, and one of them is the Madiun Mayor.” This transfer to the capital underscores the gravity and progression of the ongoing investigation.
Prasetyo indicated that this particular OTT is believed to be linked to alleged corruption practices involving project fees and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds within the Madiun region. The allegations highlight the KPK‘s consistent focus on tackling financial irregularities and illicit dealings.
Currently, Mayor Maidi’s status is that of a person under examination. The KPK is afforded a 24-hour period to determine the legal status of all parties apprehended in this significant sting operation, ensuring due process is meticulously followed before any further legal actions are taken.
