Muhammad Hanugroho, President Director of Waskita Karya, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome. “We are grateful that the series of corporate actions, including the CCT share divestment process, proceeded smoothly and has now been completed. This strategic move underscores the company’s commitment to its creditors and fulfills the Master Restructuring Agreement (MRA), which became effective in October 2024,” Hanugroho stated in an official release quoted on Sunday (30/11).

Hanugroho further elaborated that the divestment of toll road assets is an integral part of Waskita Karya’s broader restructuring and business transformation strategy. This corporate action is crucial for supporting the company’s financial health and addressing its strategic funding requirements. Looking ahead, Waskita Karya remains dedicated to maintaining financial stability and will continue its toll road divestment program. The state-owned enterprise is also keenly focused on reclaiming its core business identity as a prominent construction company specializing in buildings, water infrastructure, roads, and bridges.

With 65 years of extensive experience, Waskita Karya, as a state-owned construction firm, plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for the Indonesian populace through vital infrastructure development. Hanugroho affirmed the company’s unwavering commitment to contributing to national progress and actively supporting various government programs.

The proceeds from this divestment will be strategically allocated to meet obligations to creditors, bolster liquidity, and improve cash flow for the company’s operational activities. This meticulous financial realignment will enable Waskita to optimize its portfolio, thereby better preserving asset value.

Prior to this transaction, the share composition of the Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road was held by PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) with 55 percent, PT Bakrie Toll Indonesia with 10 percent, and Waskita Karya’s subsidiary, WTR, with 35 percent. This latest divestment marks a significant shift in ownership structure.

Moving forward, Waskita Karya intends to pursue further divestments of other toll road assets as part of its ongoing strategy to strengthen corporate finances. In 2024, for instance, Waskita Karya successfully divested a 25 percent stake in PT Trans Jabar Tol (TJT) to PT SMI, demonstrating a consistent execution of this strategy.

Over the past decade, Waskita Karya, through its WTR business group, has invested in 18 toll road segments, encompassing critical routes across Trans Java and Trans Sumatra. Out of these, nine segments have already undergone divestment since 2019. Collectively, Waskita Karya’s contributions account for over 1,000 kilometers of the 3,000 kilometers of operational toll roads throughout Indonesia.

Hanugroho highlighted the profound importance of toll road projects for society, emphasizing their extensive multiplier effect. These infrastructure developments not only facilitate seamless inter-regional connectivity but also possess the immense potential to catalyze new economic growth and generate employment opportunities across the nation.
